Distillation Column

distillation column temperature control

Water and oil temperature control units are used in a wide variety of industries and applications and distillation is a major process area that utilizes this type of equipment. The distillation process requires production equipment such as vesselswiped film stills, mixers, and temperature control regulators. Temperature control is just one of many process variables in distillation along with pressure, flow rate, and composition.

Distillation is the action of separating different components that are comingled in a base liquid. This separation is accomplished by carefully controlling the temperature that is applied to a vessel that contains the base liquid so that the desired “purified” component, which usually evaporates at a specific and unique temperature, can be removed from the base liquid, whose other elements evaporate at different temperatures than the desired component.

Water and oil temperature control units of the type made by Delta T Systems are typically used for preheating, or mid and end of process cooling, as opposed to being used as the main evaporation temperature control systems. The end of process cooling or condensation requires an industrial process cooling system such as a Delta T Systems’ Chiller.

Distillation is used in various industries including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and even waste management. Whether your distillation process requires heating or cooling, Delta T Systems’ temperature control equipment can operate up to 650°F.
